The Pittsburgh Steelers arrived in Baltimore, ready to face their rivals with a clear goal in mind – beat the rival Ravens and give their playoff hopes a critical boost heading into the final day of the regular season.

They faced sloppy conditions, battled even more injuries to their already undermanned defense, but the Steelers still found a way to win, defeating the Ravens 17-10 behind their suffocating defense, a grinding run game and one big-time connection between Mason Rudolph and Diontae Johnson.

The Ravens won the toss but deferred their option until the second half, bringing the Steelers offense onto the field to open the game.

They picked up one first down on a short pass to Najee Harris but that was all the Steelers could muster before punting from near midfield.

The Ravens returned the favor on their first possession of the game, with Tyler Huntley misfiring on three straight passes before they punted.

Jaylen Warren finally broke the ice with a 23-yard catch and run on third and one that got the Steelers over midfield for the first time all afternoon.

From there, Harris bludgeoned the Ravens defense with four straight runs for 23 yards, the last of which was a six-yard touchdown run to give Pittsburgh a 7-0 lead 2:41 before the end of the first quarter.

Baltimore took the first snap of their next drive with 2:36 left on the first quarter clock and they punted it away 51 seconds later.

Luckily for them, the Steelers closed the first quarter with a three-and-out of their own and the Ravens offense was back on the field to open the second period.

The Steelers defense came up with their first big play of the game when Myles Jack forced a fumble from the hands of Melvin Gordon.

Larry Ogunjobi recovered the ball on the Baltimore 45-yard line, setting the Steelers up with fantastic field position.

But Pittsburgh couldn’t cash in the favorable starting spot because Warren coughed up a fumble with the Steelers holding a chance to add at least three points to their early lead.

The Ravens failed to cash in that turnover and both sides exchanged punts again.

The Baltimore offense finally broke through with a six-play, 71-yard drive that was fueled by big plays – a 16-yard pass from Tyler Huntley to Laquon Treadwell and a 29-yard run from Gus Edwards.

Huntley capped the drive with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely, who shook off two Steelers defenders to get into the endzone and tie the game at 7-7 with just 2:26 left until halftime.
