McDaniels explained earlier this week that his team had been plagued by execution errors and didn’t seem to be on track. His straightforward answer may surprise you.
“Yeah, I hit him in the head. That’s not a thing. We move the ball and then we bog down on something, or we miss a third and come up short, or there’s a penalty here or there. Yesterday, we had a couple of penalties and we didn’t play well on third down for the first two or three and a half quarters of the game. And there are so many little things that go into these works. A football match can be changed by taking four or five different actions. Pick four or five different plays and you say, “Oh my God, if we do this, if we do that.” But in the end, you did what you did, and we called what we called. And so whether it’s a calling that you want to choose differently, or a performance of a play, a mission, or whatever, ultimately we have to make a grand performance. represent what we think about ourselves. Maybe.
We are looking for this and there is no shortcut to get there. I think we have to have 11 guys every game trying to do the right thing, which I think we’re doing. We need to execute more consistently against good teams. That’s what it will ask of us.”
