Quarterback Deshaun Watson posted one of his best games in a Cleveland Browns uniform over the weekend.
In a 27-0 win over Arizona, Watson was 19-for-30 passing, for 119 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 22 yards on the ground as well. One play in particular though, still has everyone talking.
With a little over eight and half minutes to play in the fourth quarter, the Browns were facing a third-and-six and looked to the air to pick it up.
Watson, took the snap, dropped, eluded some pressure and stepped up into a clean pocket to uncork a beautiful throw to Amari Cooper in double coverage, down the right sideline.
The ball was perfectly placed in Cooper’s breadbasket, who hauled it in and was tackled three yards shy of the end zone.
Keep in mind, Cooper played for the Raiders and Cowboys before coming to Cleveland last season, so he’s seen some different quarterbacks in his career.
Most notably, the 29-year-old caught passes from Derek Carr in (at the time) Oakland, then Dak Prescott in Dallas.
To put that play at the top of his list in terms of deep ball catches he’s made is certainly some high praise from one of the NFL’s best wideouts.
If the Watson-Cooper connection from Week 9 is a sign of things to come, this Browns offense could really reach another level. They’ll put it to the test against the Ravens on Sunday.
