Aston Villa sign £15m Middlesbrough forward…

Aston Villa are on the verge of making their second signing of the January transfer window after thrashing out a deal worth up to £15 million with Middlesbrough for Morgan Rogers.
Villa’s fourth proposal for the 21-year-old forward was accepted by the Championship club on Tuesday and Rogers is due for a medical at the Bodymoor Heath training ground imminently.
It is understood that Middlesbrough have agreed an initial upfront payment of £10 million, plus a further £5 million in add-ons.
Unai Emery has prioritised the signing of Rogers as he wants to add more firepower to his high-flying team, who remain in contention for the Premier League title.
Middlesbrough rejected two offers from Villa last week but the latest proposal has left them with no option but to reluctantly part ways with the former Manchester City trainee.Rogers only signed for Michael Carrick’s team in the summer, for a fee of around £1.5 million, with Manchester City agreeing a sell-on fee of 25 per cent.
His final appearance for Boro was in last week’s League Cup semi-final second leg at Chelsea, which was won by the Premier League side, though Rogers scored a fine individual goal as a consolation.
The arrival of Rogers will place further uncertainty on the future of Colombian forward Jhon Durán, who could leave before the window closes.
Durán has become frustrated after a lack of first-team opportunities and his potential availability has alerted clubs across Europe, including AC Milan and West Ham. Chelsea are also understood to have made initial inquiries
