“I am not leaving the mayor’s office simply because I have a problem,” he said. “I am leaving it because I feel there’s another step for me as a dad, as a businessman, and most importantly, as a son.”
Despite the announcement, he plans to finish his term to the best of his ability.
“So, what you can expect from me is working with our department heads in our city to run to the finish line,” he said. “We don’t know any other way.
He added that it is his priority to see through the many projects they have left in their budget.
Those include the Madison Community Center, Sunshine Oaks Park, and implementing more safety resources in Madison City Schools.
Mayor Finley said serving the city is the highlight of his professional career.
“I’m so proud to have been mayor, and I can’t wait for this last year to finish strong,” he said.
Finley’s biography also says he serves on the boards for the Madison Hospital, United Way, and Redstone Federal Credit Union.
He has recorded over 25 years of professional sales and consulting experience focused on communication and strategic planning of which most recently was utilized with Paul Finley Consulting.
He decided not to seek reelection in 2012 to focus on his family, but he was elected again for a second term in 2016 and a third term in 2020.
