Michigan wolverines Should Have Shot With Former No. 1 Overall Recruit In Transfer Portal….

Just a short time ago, Michigan was in the midst of a contested recruiting battle in an effort to land five-star defensive tackle Walter Nolen out of Powell (Tenn.) High School, who ultimately committed to Texas A&M.

Now, after spending the last two seasons in College Station, Nolen is going to be back on the market via the transfer portal.

He recently sent a statement to On3 explaining his situation.

He’s not even technically in the portal yet, but several outlets expect Nolen to once again consider the Wolverines.

Other schools to keep an eye on are Texas, Georgia, LSU, Colorado, Oregon and Tennessee.

There’s also a chance he could stay put, but that rarely happens once a kid tests out the free market.

What we did was special. Not only yesterday but the entire season, the whole group that we have. We’re thrilled. We’re thrilled to be where we’re at.

We’re thrilled to be playing Alabama, thrilled to be playing in the Rose Bowl because it’s going to be competition. That’s what this team lives for.”

Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who’s no stranger to competing in the in the CFP, said that he’s eager for the challenge of facing the No. 1 team in college football.

Our team is very excited about having the opportunity to play the No. 1 team in the country in the University of Michigan,” Saban said.

“They’ve had a very, very successful season, Big Ten champs. I’d like to congratulate them on that.

We’re going to look forward to the challenge that we have ahead in terms of what we have to do to prepare and be the best that we can be to play against the No. 1 team in the country.”

There’s no doubt that this is exactly what Michigan Football fans had envisioned prior to the start of the 2023 season.

A third-straight win over Ohio State, a third-consecutive Big Ten Championship, and a No. 1 ranking heading into the College Football Playoff.

If you’re a fan of this program, it’s literally everything you could have hoped for up to this point.

The only question now is whether or not the No. 1 ranked Wolverines can take the next step against the No. 4 ranked Crimson Tide, and ultimately play for College Football’s biggest prize on January 8.
