The Louisville Cardinals have been one of the most disappointing teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference over the past two years, finishing with a combined 12-52 record under former head coach Kenny Payne.
However, things started to change last March when Pat Kelsey was hired to lead the program.
Kelsey inherited a team in disarray, with only one player remaining after the coaching change.
As a first-year head coach, he quickly rebuilt the roster, bringing in 12 players from the transfer portal.
Kelsey’s arrival brought a fresh energy to Louisville, with fans returning to the YUM Center in droves.
However, the early excitement was tempered when the Cardinals lost four of five games and were hit hard by injuries.
The injury bug left them with just seven scholarship players able to play for weeks.
Despite these setbacks, Kelsey remained confident and assured fans that a turnaround was on the way.
