Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones didn’t waste any time making his presence felt against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16 after sacking quarterback Aidan O’Connell early in the first quarter.
The big play came on Las Vegas’ first offensive drive and helped Kansas City force a Raiders punt.
Check out Jones’ outstanding effort here, and notice the athleticism on display as the All-Pro lineman bursts into the backfield:
This sack put Jones at 8.5 total on the 2023 season and moves him closer to cashing in on the performance incentives he negotiated while holding out from team activities during Kansas City’s training camp.
While Jones’ effort on this play was admirable, the Chiefs have been mired in offensive dysfunction against Las Vegas and couldn’t score points when they got the ball back after the Raiders’ punt.
Expect the former Mississippi State Bulldog to continue bringing the heat when Las Vegas opts to move the ball through the air.
The Las Vegas Raiders told the world before OTA’s that Jimmy Garoppolo wouldn’t be participating.
The former San Francisco 49er had surgery on his foot after failing a physical before signing his new contract.
With Garoppolo out on the sideline, the other quarterbacks have had a chance to shine. One player making waves at mini-camp is young signal caller Aidan O’Connell.
During the practice session, he had a touchdown throw to another rookie Tre Tucker.
