Under head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia Bulldogs have become one of the biggest powerhouses in college football.

They can now bring in talented players.

That trend has continued into this offseason, as they’ve established an impressive 2026 recruiting class with 19 commitments, ranking No. 6 in the nation, according to On3.

They’re still looking to add as well, and one name that’s caught their attention is running back Derrek Cooper, who they brought in for an official visit on June 13.

It would certainly be a nice addition for Miami because last season for Chaminade-Madonna High School, he was impressive, rushing the ball 124 times for 905 yards and 13 touchdowns while also having nine receptions, 156 yards and one touchdown.

Also standing at 6-foot-0.5 and 210 pounds, On3 Industry Rankings places him as a four-star recruit, the No. 3 running back, the No. 3 player in Florida and the No. 34 player in the nation.

Howard is ranked No. 1,069 nationally, the No. 107 defensive lineman in his class, and the No. 116 player in the state of Georgia.

After a recent official visit to Athens, it didn’t take long for him to decide that he is staying home.

”I chose Georgia because they are the best at developing players,” Howard told On3. “I also love the coaches, their style of defense, and how they play in the SEC.”

Aside from his NFL size at 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds, what makes Howard stand out is his versatility.

Georgia sees him as someone who could play multiple roles along the defensive front at defensive end, shift inside, or as a hybrid outside linebacker.

That kind of flexibility is rare, and something coach Smart is always looking for. Sure, Howard might not see much action until Year 2 or Year 3, but he’s an overall high upside and low risk lock.

His stay in Athens was ultimately a short one, as he spent one season with the Bulldogs and ended that year averaging 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 40.2% from the field for a 16-win Georgia squad.

Edwards went into the draft process as one of the most likely players to go No. 1, and come draft night the Timberwolves decided he was their guy with the top overall pick.

Edwards made good on the high expectations he faced in Minnesota by earning first team NBA All-Rookie status in 2020-21 after averaging 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

Edwards has shined in Minnesota and has quickly become one of the young stars in the NBA.

He is coming off his fifth season with the Timberwolves, during which he averaged a career-best 27.6 points per game along with 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest.

He shot 44.7% from the field and a career-best 39.5% from 3-point range for a Minnesota squad that made it to the Western Conference Finals.
