American football team Green Bay Packers has hired Kevin Manara as its general counsel, replacing Ed Policy, who is being promoted to president and CEO.

Manara joins from fellow NFL team Arizona Cardinals, where he was also GC. At the Packers, he will bring his roughly two decades of experience to provide advice and strategic guidance to executives and football staff, as well as handle legal matters such as litigation, employment, football operations and corporate law.

Wisconsin-based Green Bay Packers has won four Super Bowls in its history, including Super Bowl I in 1966 and most recently in 2010. The team plays its games at Lambeau Field, which holds more than 80,000 people – the second largest in the NFL.

Manara arrives after almost two years at the Cardinals, which he first joined as a special counsel in 2023 from Las Vegas Raiders, where he spent a year as GC. He previously spent 13 years as vice president of labour relations and policy at the NFL, having started his legal career in private practice at Proskauer Rose where he was an associate in its labour and employment department.

During his time at the NFL, he was responsible for administering and enforcing the league’s collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association.
