J.J. McCarthy reacts to Jim Harbaugh leaving Michigan wolverines football today
Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy congratulated his coach, Jim Harbaugh, for starting his next chapter after taking the Los Angeles Chargers’ job on Wednesday.
Both McCarthy and Harbaugh will be in the NFL next season after helping lead the Wolverines to an 15-0 national championship season in 2023.
“The Michigan Man!” McCarthy wrote Wednesday night on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Love you, 4, thank you for everything. Your story isn’t finished just yet.”

McCarthy also referenced Harbaugh’s number as a player. Harbaugh notable wore No. 4 as the quarterback at Michigan, and for two seasons with the Chargers in the NFL.
Under Harbaugh’s tutelage, McCarthy is a projected NFL first-round pick. Harbaugh, meanwhile, will inherit a talented Chargers roster. He will now get to work with talented quarterback Justin Herbert, which means a McCarthy-Harbaugh reunion in Los Angeles is unlikely.
