At some point, Mike McCarthy was on the brink of getting sacked. The Dallas Cowboys–Green Bay Packers game concluded, and McCarthy became a subject of hate and apprehension. However, it’s still hard to sway Jerry Jones’ trust in Mike McCarthy. The owner posted a statement justifying why he hasn’t decided on firing the Head Coach in exchange for a new one. Now, McCarthy has come forward with more clarification on the matter.
He had a meeting with Jerry Jones and allegedly fought for his job at the Dallas Cowboys. It is to be noted that this is his last year with the Cowboys, per their contract agreement. So, Jerry Jones decided to show mercy and give him one more chance, a chance to at least win a post-season game. A drought that the Cowboys haven’t been able to overcome for more than two decades.
The Cowboys’ HC appeared in the presser after he had a 3-hour-long meeting with Jerry Jones. McCarthy told the media that he had a conversation with Jones about a lot of “topics”, and one of them was the post-season loss and how the season ended so abruptly for the Cowboys. Per the HC, there were “layers” to their disappointment. He didn’t expose exactly what the disappointment was about, apart from the loss to the Packers.
