Five Brisbane Broncos, including Ezra Mam will spend this weekend at a preseason Maroons camp in Brisbane, alongside newly named Assistant Matt Ballin and new Physical Performance Manager, Broncos trainer Pat Kenny.
Mam will join Pat Carrigan, Selwyn Cobbo, Corey Oates and Reece Walsh and new Maroons Assistant Coach Matt Ballin as Head Coach Billy Slater brings together 34 eligible players and his new look coaching and performance staff.
Broncos Strength and Conditioning Coach Pat Kenny, who hails from Innisfail, the same Far North Queensland town as Slater, has been named as the squad’s new Physical Performance Manager, taking over the reigns from Andrew Croll.
The squad will take part in a community blitz as well as a junior coaching clinic over Saturday and Sunday.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to get our Queensland players together before the season starts,” Slater said.
“Obviously the (NRL) training schedule in preparation for their season is quite tight, so to get them for this weekend is really important for their preparation into our series.
“We get to touch on a few things footy wise but more importantly we get to our players into our community.
“Both our players and the community will get a really big lift from the experience.”
Meanwhile Broncos Development players Coby Black, Cameron Bukowski and Israel Leota will be amongst Queensland’s next generation of State of Origin representatives to assemble in Brisbane on Sunday, named in the Queensland Under 19 Emerging squad.
Matt Ballin returns as Head Coach, joined by former Broncos Darius Boyd and Matt Gillett.
