“Am Eager To Leave” Tennessee Volunteers key player utters this speech to his Coach

The Vols had a tremendous showing on Saturday night in front of a lot of sets of eyeballs, throttling the Kentucky Wildcats 103-92 at Rupp Arena.

It wasn’t quite enough to keep them in a place that’s been very comfortable: the top five.

The Vols dropped to number six in both the AP and coaches Top 25 polls that were released on Monday.

Tennessee dropped from five to six, with Kansas jumping over both the Vols and Houston – who ended up at #5 – up to the #4 spot.

The Jayhawks handled the Cougars 78-65 in Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.

As such, it’s hard to argue with the result.  Kansas defeated the Vols 69-60 in the Maui Invitational back on November 22 while the Cougars have a 19-3 overall record with a 6-3 record in Quad 1 games.

However, that South Carolina loss looks a little bit less bad a week later.  The Gamecocks defeated the Vols 63-59 on Tuesday night and followed that up with a 72-62 win at Georgia on Saturday afternoon.  The Gamecocks checked into the polls at #15 in the AP poll and #20 in the coaches poll.

Also, the Vols still seem to be in pretty good shape as far as tournament bracket projections.

Joe Lunardi noted that the Vols are one of five teams with a legitimate one-seed profile, which obviously amounts to the bigger and primary goal over February poll positions.

That being said, Tennessee will have a chance to move back up in the polls again starting on Wednesday when the LSU Tigers come to Knoxville.
