SAD NEWS: Amarius Mims has been Departed from Georgia Bulldogs today……

With both the NFL and college football seasons officially wrapped up, the attention now shifts toward the NFL draft. The Georgia Bulldogs recently had eleven players invited to the NFL combine event and several of them are currently projected to go in the first round. One of them is offensive tackle Amarius Mims and if that projection holds, he could help put the Georgia program in some elite company.

One of the biggest effects head coach Kirby Smart has had on the Georgia football program is increasing the number of players selected in the NFL draft each year. The Bulldogs have had 25 players taken over the last two years and they are set up to have another strong showing at the draft this year as well.

Most players that Georgia has drafted over the years have come from the defensive side of the ball, which makes sense considering Smart’s background. However, they have also produced quite a few NFL-caliber offensive linemen since 2017. Georgia has had 11 offensive linemen taken in the NFL draft since that mark and four have been first-round picks.

Where Amarius Mims comes into play is if he is selected in the first round of this year’s NFL draft like many suspect him to be, the Bulldogs will join Alabama as the only other college program to have five offensive linemen taken in the first round over the last eight years.
