Admired by Kendrick Perkins The 76ers without Joel Embiid amid recent success

The Sixers’ recent performance sans Joel Embiid has been praised by the former champion.

The Philadelphia 76ers appeared ready to be a contender in the Eastern Conference during the first half of the season. Tyrese Maxey developed into an All-Star, Joel Embiid was having another MVP-caliber season, and the team had a lot of depth after trading for James Harden. Nevertheless, when the great center hurt his knee against the Golden State Warriors, things really went south.

The Sixers have been forced to play without their franchise leader for the last month. Although there were some difficulties in the beginning, the squad now seems to be clicking. With a 5-5 record in their previous ten games, Philadelphia is still in the thick of the Eastern Conference race.

Kendrick Perkins gave the Sixers some much-needed credit after the team’s current winning run. He praised them for surviving without Embiid and gave several reasons for their accomplishment.

“I must admit, I thought the Philadelphia 76ers were gonna fall off like no limit when Joel Embiid got injured, but they have done the complete opposite,” Perkins stated on Sunday. “We saw Daryl Morey make some moves at the trade deadline, and they still have a great mixture of veterans with the young guys, and Nick Nurse has done an exceptional job of keeping this team afloat.”

Kyle Lowry, who joined via the buyout market, was one of the other items mentioned by Perkins. The former All-Star is averaging 8.0 points and 5.8 rebounds through his first five games with the Sixers while shooting 37.5% from outside the arc.

It is currently unknown when Embiid will resume operations. He expressed to the media last week that he intends to suit up once again this season. It becomes much more important for the Sixers to survive with this kind of thinking. If they have enough time, they may be able to climb back up the ranks, depending on when a potential return occurs.

G League Team of the 76ers Announces Roster Additions

A few new players have joined the Blue Coats.

The Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, are striving to maintain their position atop the table while the team battles to remain in the top half of the Eastern Conference standings.

The Blue Coats have had a fantastic start to the season, going 16-8 through the first 24 games, despite losing early in the G League Showcase cup before the season began.

The squad as a whole deserves some of the credit for the fiery start, but Ricky Council IV, Terquavion Smith, and the recently waived Kenny Lofton Jr. have emerged as the team’s best players.

Because of his extended stay with the Sixers, Council has only played in seven games this season, but in those seven games, he averaged 25 points and six rebounds.

Smith scored 22 points a game on an effective 41 percent shooting from the field during the Showcase Cup, and he carried that momentum into the regular season.

Despite averaging 26 points and seven rebounds per game, Lofton was waived earlier in the month, despite being the Blue Coats’ top scorer.

The Sixers waived Javonte Smart in late December, and the Blue Coats took their time finding players to replace both him and Lofton. Smart moved to Crvena Zvezda in the Basketball League of Serbia towards the beginning of the season.

With the addition of Rob Edwards and Daniel Giddens as they head into the last month of competition, it seems that Delaware has taken the time to recruit a fresh group of players to add to their squad.

The Blue Coats will be Giddens’ third team.

is in his third season, having played for a stretch of time with the Westchester Knicks and Iowa Wolves. In his nine minutes on the field, he averages one point and one rebound.

Conversely, Edwards has experience in the G League, having played for the Wisconsin Herd, the Oklahoma City Blue, and most recently, the Maine Celtics.

During his time as the G-League affiliate of the Boston Celtics, Edwards averaged six points per game while shooting 37 percent from the floor.

Although they might not be the most eye-catching additions, Delaware head coach Mike Longabardi will undoubtedly benefit from them in the closing stages since the team has recently been forced to play short rotations, which might not be the best when it comes to playoff time.
