Omar Khan, General Manager of the Steelers, discusses the quarterback situation
Steelers May Sign Star Free Agent from Ravens
A former Baltimore star might be added by the Pittsburgh Steelers via free agency.
Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Steelers have some extra cash to work with after making some early spring roster cuts and the significant boost in salary cap room.
The Steelers may think about adding some significant players in free agency to bolster a team that just made the playoffs the previous year, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. They might even be able to snag standout linebacker Patrick Queen from the Baltimore Ravens, their AFC North opponents.
“While it might seem far-fetched, never say never with Khan,” Kaboly stated. Queen would be a fantastic fit for the Steelers, who have had difficulty finding a trustworthy inside linebacker since Ryan Shazier’s injury in 2017. The need is obvious, since Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander—who is also a free agent—are recovering from major injuries, and Mark Robinson is finding it difficult to transition from special teamer to starter.”
Queen would be a fantastic fit for the Steelers, who have long been lacking in reliable, high-caliber inside linebacker play. This past season, he was named to an All-Pro team and earned his first career Pro Bowl selection.
Queen’s career best of 133 tackles in his fourth season was surpassed by an interception, six passes defensed, 3.5 sacks, and nine tackles in 17 games for a Ravens defense that gave up the fewest points in football in 2023.
Together with former Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson and defensive lineman Christian Wilkins, Queen was dubbed a “luxury signing” by Kaboly. In addition to being a wonderful match for the defense, Kaboly believes he might fetch up to $18 million a season, which makes him a luxury.
