Will the Packers be players in this year’s free agent spending spree?

The NFL world has already shifted to free agency, even if the cones from Lucas Oil Stadium have hardly been taken off the field yet. Next week marks the start of the new league season, and with it the tidal wave of spending on players who are now available.

Encouraged by the unexpected increase in the cap, the Packers may find themselves active in the free agency market; however, as usual, we must adjust our expectations accordingly. Though the Packers overperformed last year, they are still in the vulnerable early phases of the post-Rodgers era. It is not a good idea to schedule a meeting between the two just because there are players available and money to spend. It appears that sacrificing the future vision in order to have pleasure nowlike an error.

However, we’ve already seen how astute investing can advance things in the not too distant past. For a variety of reasons, the Packers were quite boring in 2016–18; nonetheless, a single summer of investing in 2019 revitalized the team and paved the way for a 2020–2021 comeback. Act sensibly today to avoid a similar outcome.
