A late addition the injury report after injuring his hip prior to Friday’s practice, Gonzalez suited up and did his part against Miami’s top receivers.
Shadowing Tyreek Hill for most of the day (18 of 36 routes), Gonzalez limited the speedster to just one catch for 10 yards.
One of his most notable reps in live action came on a third-down coverage where he shut off Hill to the inside to allow Christian Barmore to record a sack.
The cherry on top of Gonzalez’s day came in the fourth quarter as a fumble fell right in his lap — which he took 63-yards the other way for his first career touchdown.
After playing 21 snaps in his season debut last week, Barmore tallied 35 defensive snaps Sunday.
He started to look like his old self again recording the aforementioned sack and drawing a hold.
New England’s pass rush struggled outside of Barmore, who recorded one of the highest pass rush win rates among all defensive tackles in Week 12.
The duo also had issues in pass protection allowing two sacks and 11 combined pressures. Jacobs ended the game on the bench in favor of Sidy Sow.
With rookie Caedan Wallace nearing a return from injury, the right tackle spot could be his for the taking.
