DONE DEAL: Kentucky Wildcats Land Five Mega-Star quarterback.
Bush Hamdan’s first quarterback commitment to Kentucky football has been made.
Three-star Ohio prep quarterback Brennen Ward committed to the Wildcats on Thursday, less than a month after UK coach Mark Stoops hired Hamdan from Boise State to be his new offensive coordinator. Following four-star prospect Stone Saunders, who chose the Wildcats when Liam Coen was still the offensive coordinator, Ward is the second quarterback to pledge to UK’s 2025 class. He is the class’s fourth commitmentIn May 2022, Kentucky became the first Division I program to provide Ward a scholarship. Despite the two offensive coordinator changes the Wildcats have experienced since then, recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow has persisted in Ward’s recruitment.
The last time Ward was in the UK was in February, a few days after he was visited by Marrow and Eric Wolford, the offensive line coach, at Gahanna Lincoln High School in Columbus, Ohio. However, in an interview with the Herald-Leader over the weekend, Hamdan said he had started to evaluate UK’s current offensive commitments and other recruits the staff believed could be a good fit. For the most part, Hamdan’s first few weeks on the job have been spent getting to know the current Kentucky personnel and getting his fellow offensive coaches ready to install a new offense during spring practice.
Hamdan stated, “I’ve been around it and have a good grasp of what it’s going to take,” alluding to his experience recruiting while serving as coach at Florida, Washington, and Missouri in the Power Five.
