With nine points in the second quarter, the Seminoles limited the Orange to just 27 points in the first half, giving them a 12-point advantage at the break. By the end of the game, that lead had increased to more than 20 points. Syracuse outscored Florida State 20–11 in the fourth quarter as they rediscovered their groove, but the ‘Noles lead was too great to overcome.

Dyaisha Fair, a fifth-year guard, led ‘Cuse with 23 points on 7 of 15 shots. In the defeat, Fair also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Less than five minutes into the game, Florida State moved out to an early 14-4 lead. Later, they used a 16-9 run in the second quarter to maintain a 39-27 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, the Seminoles extended their lead, winning 67-45 thanks to a 10-point scoring differential in the first 10 minutes of play.

During the last 4:43 of play, Syracuse went on an 11-0 run, but their comeback was insufficient as Florida State went on to win.
