Great new: The NCAA award Caitlin Clark after the incredible victory in the Big Ten tournament display….
It had not been done since the days of Allen Iverson.
With the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark is having an incredible NCAA Division I season. She leads her team to a 95-68 victory in the Big Ten tournament, displaying a level of play not seen since Allen Iverson’s dominance in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004.
According to Clark’s game statistics, she has scored at least 20 points and dished out five assists in 28 straight games. She will beat Iverson’s record of 29 straight games in that kind of form if she continues to play like that for two more days, demonstrating just how absurd her season’s output has been.
Clark contributed 28 points and 15 assists in the team’s victory over the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, March 9, accounting for 43 of her team’s 95 points (43.8%). This solidified Clark’s place among the NCAA’s greatest athletes and among the greatest female athletes in college history.
If you overlook the ludicrous numbers from earlier in the season, like surpassing Pete Maravich and Kelsey Plum’s college point records in a span of 14 days, her performance in the semifinal was more than enough to earn her MVP accolades nevertheless.
On Sunday, March 10, the Championship final was played, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers lost because they could not stop Clark and the Hawkeyes’ train from rolling them over as well.
The defending champions came on strong after the break and figured out how to shut down the Cornhuskers’ offense as they only scored 31 points to the Hawkeyes’ 42 in the second half, allowing Clark’s team to give themselves one last chance in overtime. The Hawkeyes had led 46-35 at the half.
Then, in the Target Center in Minneapolis, they defeated the Cornhuskers by a score of five points to win the championship back for a second year.
As usual, over 2023–24, Clark was a force to be reckoned with for her squad, putting up 34 points and 12 assists.
