NEWS NOW..‘Not allowed to talk’: The unspoken rule

There is one unspoken rule enforced, ahead of the Round 3 grudge match against the Panthers. The opponent Broncos  declared they were “not allowed to take about” last year’s grand final.

Kevin Walters men had their collective hearts broken last season by 20 minutes of Nathan Cleary brilliance that sealed a third-straight premiership for the Penrith outfit.

But now with a chance to redeem themselves on Thursday night, Broncos stars Corey Jensen and Billy Walters downplayed the idea of a grand final rematch.

“I can’t really say anything about that,” Jensen said to the SMH.

“We’ve flushed that now, we’re not allowed to talk about that at all.”

“We can’t dwell on last year. There’s no ban, we just don’t want to talk about it,” Walters said.

However, the Broncos are facing a tough assignment with skipper and chief playmaker Adam Reynolds sidelined due to a MCL sprain.

Meanwhile, Payne Haas is also in doubt due to a knee injury with Jock Madden and Xavier Willison in line to replace the pair.

When asked if if the players stepping into the big shoes of Reynolds and potentially Haas would be able to handle a BlueBet Stadium baptism of fire, Jensen replied: “definitely”.
