After hiring Tony Alford, the Wolverines have caught the attention of at least two very talented running backs.
The Michigan Wolverines’ recruiting trail is already benefiting from Sherrone Moore’s decision to put Tony Alford in place of Mike Hart. In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll focus on a few players who want to work with Alford at Michigan and a four-star wide receiver who has scheduled an official visit to Ann Arbor.
Four-star Marquise Davis is one of Michigan’s top targets for a running back in the 2025 class, even before Alford was hired. The 6-foot-190-pound Cleveland, Ohio native is among the class’s top running back prospects and is rated in the top 200 overall.
Davis expressed some excitement in an interview with Brice Marich ($) of The Michigan Insider after learning of the Alford development.
“I’m glad for him and I support it,” Davis remarked. We get along well, and in general, I believe he is a kind man. Extremely committed to his craft and method of working.
“A little bit piqued my interest.”
In addition, Davis has offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, USC, and other schools. Davis intends to travel throughout the spring. Though the precise day is unknown, he does intend to traveling to Michigan shortly. He also intends to visit USC, Penn State, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Tennessee.
According to the 247Sports composite, Davis is ranked No. 172 overall, No. 13 at running back, and No. 7 in the state of Ohio.
The hiring of Alford has even affected the class of 2026, since during his time at OSU, he actively recruited five-star running back Savion Hiter. The Virginia native, who stands 5 feet 11 inches and weighs 182 pounds, was making a serious impression on the Buckeyes while Alford was their running backs coach.
