RJ Davis becomes the 19th Tar Heel to be named consensus first-team All-America.
On Wednesday, North Carolina senior guard RJ Davis received two more All-America honors from the NABC and the USBWA, making him the 19th Tar Heel player to be named to the consensus first team.
With the addition of Davis, 19 UNC players have received consensus first-team All-America honors 28 times. Davis was named to all four of the NCAA’s recognized All-America teams this year, including Sporting News, Associated Press, NABC (coaches), and USBWA (media).
Davis, like Lennie Rosenbluth in 1957, Phil Ford in 1978, Michael Jordan in 1983 and 1984, Kenny Smith in 1987, Jerry Stackhouse in 1995, Antawn Jamison in 1998, Joseph Forte in 2001, and Tyler Hansbrough in 2008 and 2009, are the only Tar Heels will be named first-team All-America on each of the NCAA’s recognized teams in order to determine consensus first-team All-America. Since 1997, the Associated Press, UBWA, NABC, and Sporting News have chosen consensus All-America teams.

Carolina is tied for fifth in NCAA history, with 19 players earning unanimous first-team All-America honors. These 19 Tar Heels have won the award 28 times, second only to Kansas with 32.
Davis, the ACC Player of the Year, helped the Tar Heels win the ACC regular-season championship and a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Davis scores 21.4 points and provides 3.5 assists per game.
He and Armando Bacot, who was named third-team All-American by the USBWA, are the only players from the same program to make this This year’s 15-man roster. Bacot also formed various third teams, notably the USBWA, in 2023.
