Jorge Posada, a former player for the New York Yankees, is an actor now?
Okay, so maybe this isn’t his second job (yet), but on Thursday, the former backstop for the Yankees was featured in a Miller Lite beer commercial.
Recall the famous debate, “Great taste, less filling,” from the 1980s John Madden Miller Lite advertisements. Posada, along with other retired athletes including David Ortiz, Mia Hamm, JJ Watt, and Reggie Miller, are a part of a revival of those commercials. One of them is Luke Wilson as well.
Posada exclusively discussed the choice to join the movement, his career, the modern game, and much more with our own Brady Farkas. He also discussed what it was like to speak with pitchers on the hill.
*Note: Posada claimed four World Series championships in New York, according to the interview. In a sense, he did win a fifth ring, even though he was not included in the 1996 postseason team.
Posada, a veteran of 17 years, was a lifetime.275 home runs, 1065 RBI, and a 273 hitter. at addition to being a five-time All-Star and Silver Slugger, he has a memorial at the storied memorial Park of the Yankees. Alongside Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte, he formed the legendary “Core Four” for the squad.
This is the advertisement featuring Posada and Ortiz in Spanish:
Though Posada has stated that he will not be acting professionally full-time, you have to admit that he seemed really at ease in that role!
Throughout March Madness, numerous other versions of the commercial—which do not feature Posada—will also be broadcast.
