After two underwhelming seasons, the athletic director had declared on March 13 that coach Kenny Payne would be fired.

Another talented Cardinal is trying to take his skills elsewhere after Payne left.

Skyy Clark announced his intention to use the transfer portal on the collegiate sports website On3.

The 6-foot-3 sophomore expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the Louisville Cardinals’ faith in his leadership abilities.

Clark claimed he “grew both as a player and a person” while playing under Payne.

He continued by saying that while Louisville looks for a new head coach, he wanted to keep his options open. Regarding a possible comeback, Clark did state that he would be “maintaining an open line of communication” with the Cards.

“I’ll always be appreciative of #CardNation,” he declared.

In 2023ā€“24, Clark averaged 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

Junior guard Koron Davis, freshman center Dennis Evans, freshman big Kaleb Glenn, sophomore forward Danilo Jovanovich, senior forward J.J. Traynor, and freshman guard Curtis are among the other Cardinals who have logged onto the portal.
