Djokovic has been a dominant force at Wimbledon since capturing his first title in London in 2011 and he’s very close to celebrating a huge milestone.
Should he win against his compatriot Miomir Kecmanović in the third round, the star will celebrate 100 wins at the All England Club.
Speaking about the milestone in his post-match interview, Djokovic revealed: “Wimbledon still stays the most special tournament in my heart and the one that I always dreamed of winning when I was a kid. Any history made here is very special for me.”
Djokovic played Kecmanović on Saturday, with a location and time yet to be announced by the All England Club.
He continued, “Monaco is special. I think they’ll be very different for different reasons. Monaco is its history, and what it means to the people who have won there. Silverstone because it’s my home race, it’s the British fans and all those things. The Lando fans and all those guys.”
The newly named Landostand at Silverstone, located on the outside of Stowe corner in the final sector, will be packed with Norris fans who hope to be standing in ovation come the final lap, as he navigates the Vale Chicane for a maiden home win.
However, the 38-year-old said that’s something he was planning to do once he hangs up his racquets for good. “I’d like to,” explained Djokovic to the BBC on-court after his win.
“But I think that’s going to come when I set the racquet aside and sip margaritas on the beach with Federer and Nadal and just reflect on our rivalry and everything.””
Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal were widely considered the ‘big three’ of tennis for two decades due to their dominance of the ATP Tour.
The trio share 66 Grand Slams between them, with Djokovic holding the most with 24 wins between 2008 and 2023.
