Analyzing the Milwaukee Brewers’ Starting Rotation for 2024 Before Opening Day
The Milwaukee Brewers signed top prospect DL Hall to their starting rotation while holding onto other veterans despite selling away previous Cy Young champion Corbin Burnes.
The MLB regular season of 2024 is quickly approaching, which means it’s time for each club to secure its best five starting pitchers.
The Milwaukee Brewers appeared to be ready to gut their rotation down to the nucleus at one point over the offseason. Even after moving Corbin Burnes, the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner, to the Baltimore Orioles in February, the Brewers front staff made care to keep a healthy mix of young, promising arms and skilled veterans in the five-man group.
A little sneak peek at Milwaukee’s starting pitching in 2024 is provided here:
Peralta, who was chosen an All-Star in 2021, has been a dependable player at the top of the Brewers’ lineup ever since. The 27-year-old Peralta, who just started 30 games for the first time in his career in 2023, appears ready for another successful season in 2024.
Prior to 2023, Hall was regarded as one of baseball’s top 100 prospects, but he was limited to using the Orioles bullpen for innings. Hall still has the opportunity to use his rookie eligibility, so this is his chance to showcase his exceptional skills on a larger platform and turn them into victories and awards.
Given that he had played in 10 major league games in the preceding six years, Rea’s 22 starts in 2023 was an intriguing development. Now that his job has been clearly established, the Brewers are depending on Rea to hold steady for a further 100+ innings.
Over the last two seasons, Junis has revitalized his career with the San Francisco Giants following a turbulent five years with the Kansas City Royals. The right-hander, 31, is now hoping to continue that trend with the Brewers after agreeing to a $7 million contract in February.
Ross has had a difficult journey. He chose not to play in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season and missed the entire 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery. Ross hopes to have his first major league impact after joining the Washington Nationals in 2021 after spending 2023 in the Giants’ minor league system.
Wade Miley and Brandon Woodruff were both able to stay with the Brewers after being allowed to hit free agency last year. However, none will be available to begin the year.
