The NBA is a long season full of ups and downs. Over 82 games and six-plus months, every team experiences highs and lows that are relative to their expectations. However, they want to constantly improve and play their best basketball heading into April when the playoffs begin. Unfortunately for the Bucks, they are slumping at the worst time.
Milwaukee followed up their worst loss of the season on Tuesday night, a four-point defeat at the hands of the previously 14-win Washington Wizards, with another embarrassing L on Wednesday night, this time against the extremely shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies. Milwaukee finished the season 0-2 against Memphis.
For a minute, it looked like the Bucks righted the ship. They beat the Brooklyn Nets and whooped the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 21st and 24th. They were then up by 19 points in the fourth quarter against the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers.
That’s when they started taking on water, losing four of their last five games.
Milwaukee blew the gigantic lead against the Lakers and lost in double overtime. They followed that up with a loss at the New Orleans Pelicans. Their lone win in this span was over the Atlanta Hawks, as they lost their next two games against the Wizards and Grizzlies following that contest.
With six games remaining, Milwaukee is still in second place in the Eastern Conference at 47-29. However, their 61.8 percent win-loss percentage would end up as the lowest since Jason Kidd was the head coach in 2016-17.
