Headline: Running back Saquon Barkley sign five years historic contract deal worth $900 million with San Francisco 49ers today….
Parris Campbell, Saquon Barkley’s new Philadelphia Eagles colleague, has tipped Barkley, a former star of the New York Giants, to prove he’s the finest running back in the NFL.
Parris Campbell thought Saquon Barkley, the newest star of the Philadelphia Eagles, would emerge as the NFL’s finest running back.
The Eagles wide receiver revealed to the Philadelphia Inquirer that Barkley is vying for the position of NFL leading running back held by Christian McCaffrey. The current Offensive Player of the Year in the league is McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers.
Recently having begun practicing with Barkley, Campbell was all praise for the new player’s skill on the field, implying that Barkley is going to push McCaffrey and cause a stir in the league. Barkley has moved from the New York Giants to the Eagles.
“I think he’s going to show people why he’s the best running back in the league,” Campbell said. I am aware that there is much discussion.between him and McCaffrey, Christian. Do not misunderstand; Christian McCaffrey is without a doubt among the league’s top running backs.
However, having had the opportunity to see Saquon up close and personal—in the same locker room, on the same team—I can tell you that, quite honestly, he is a different person on the field. And I believe it will be quite frightening for defenses to run behind our offensive line.
When you combine that with Jalen (Hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles) and his ability to prolong plays and move outside the pocket, I’m sure we’ll play some sort of read-option game and see some RPO action. Therefore, the choices are virtually limitless.”
Undoubtedly, Barkley has established himself as one of the best running backs in the NFL. Since making his debut, the The 27-year-old has exceeded 1,000 running yards in three seasons, been named to the Pro Bowl twice, and won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
But if Barkley hopes to surpass McCaffrey, he has a lot to climb. Stathead claims that McCaffrey, the 49ers’ standout, outperforms Barkley in practically every area, despite their two head-to-head matches being evenly matched.
After a stellar season in the 2023 NFL, McCaffrey looks to have reached a new level of performance, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan of San Francisco. With 1,459 rushing yards and 2,023 scrimmage yards, he topped the league while participating in all 16 games.
In addition, McCaffrey has been selected to the First Team All-Pro three times, the Second Team All-Pro once, and the Pro Bowl three times. Additionally, he was instrumental in leading the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII, where they were defeated 25–22 in overtime by the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s important to note that because of injuries, McCaffrey has participated in 17 more games than Barkley.
It’s interesting to note that Barkley is ranked 16th in the NFL for running backs in 2023, while McCaffrey is ranked first.
