LOUISVILLE, KY: Kenny Payne, the head coach of the University of Louisville men’s basketball team, was let go a little more than a week ago. In Payne’s second season as head coach, the Cardinals just finished a dismal 8-24 campaign. Payne finished his time at his alma university with a 12-52 overall record.
But with regard to some of Louisville’s primary targets, there have been a lot of shifting pieces since the Payne was fired last Wednesday.
First, it was rumored that Scott Drew, the head coach of Baylor and widely considered the Cardinals’ top target, would indeed remain in Waco with the Bears. Furthermore, Josh Schertz, the head coach of Indiana State, is reportedly in the running for the Saint Louis position, and Alabama head coach Nate Oats agreed to an extension with the Crimson Tide.
