“Farewell to Tar Heels”: Tar Heels announced the resignation and departure of Seth Trimble immediately and exit today due to….
So far this year, two players from the UNC basketball program have entered the transfer portal.
Head coach of UNC basketball Hubert Davis nearly quadrupled freshman Seth Trimble’s playing time. And as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard developed into a valuable weapon for the Tar Heels off the bench, particularly because of his unbelievable bounce, which frequently gave the team spurts of energy.
Nevertheless, Trimble, a 19-year-old from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, appears unlikely to enroll as a junior in Chapel Hill. By putting his name into the transfer portal, he appears to be seeking a different opportunity.
Trimble, a former four-star prospect who came in at number 38 on the 247Sports 2022 Composite, revealed the news via an emotional letter to his family on Instagram, which read as follows:
After receiving a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Seth Trimble played in all but two games for a Tar Heel team that ended 29-8 overall, topped the ACC standings, and advanced to the Sweet 16 in his sophomore season. Trimble averaged 5.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game. Despite averaging less than one try each game, he shot an amazing 41.9 percent from three.
This summer, he becomes the second Tar Heel to access the transfer site. James Okonkwo, a reserve big man, is the other; he made his announcement last week.
The Tar Heels, who added a few players via transfers to their roster in 2023–24, have expressed interest in a few of the players now listed in the transfer site, but they have not yet acquired one for the upcoming campaign.
