“I AM LEAVING”: Jared McCain announced that he is leaving duke blue devils today after facing….

According to reports, Jon Scheyer’s third season as head coach in Durham will see the return of a vital weapon for Duke basketball.

It appears that another Blue Devil starter has chosen to remain in Durham for an additional season, just two days after it was revealed that Mark Mitchell, a starting basketball player for Duke, was hitting the transfer portal.

Tyrese Proctor, a sophomore guard, will return to Duke for his junior season, according to a story published on Thursday night by national college hoops insider Adam Zagoria.

Proctor is expected back, which is a huge plus for the Blue Devils. The 6-foot-5 guard, who served as a co-captain with graduate center Ryan Young and senior guard Jeremy Roach last season, will act as a seasoned team leader while directing Duke’s incoming six-deep recruiting class and setting the offensive scheme. He will likely resume his role as the primary floor general.

The 20-year-old Australian playmaker reclassified to play in his first year of college for the 2022–2023 season; however, the previous year was his actual first year of college.

Proctor continued as Duke’s top on-ball defender while suffering an ankle ailment that held him out of action for the majority of December. Proctor also improved his offensive game. As a sophomore, the Sydney native shot 42.3 percent from the field and 35.2 percent beyond the arc, averaging 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Tyrese Proctor, Duke’s best facilitator, could have an abundance of lob threats in the Blue Devils’ top-ranked freshman class, which should help him thrive the following season.

Third-year head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have already lost two scholarship players—sophomore Christian Reeves and mark Mitchell—via the transfer portal, despite the fact that he is the first Blue Devil to announce a return. Fans of Duke basketball are still waiting on important choices from players like Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain, and Jeremy Roach.
