AM SORRY: Reason Why I Left Tar Heels today….

The North Carolina Tar Heels have yet to land a commitment in the 2025 recruiting class after landing a top 10 class for 2024.

The good news for the Tar Heels is that there is a long ways to go and they have a lot of offers out to prospects.

One prospect who has an offer is five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson who plays at Huntington Prep in West Virginia.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Peterson caught up with Eric Bossi of 247Sports at the Adidas 3SSB circuit to talk about his recruitment.

He told Bossi that a visit to UNC will happen at some point.

UNC football has begun preparations for life after Drake Maye and Cedric Gray.

Carolina failed to take the next step up in college football’s pecking order when they had two generational quarterbacks, so what can Tar Heel fans expect afterwards?

There are many question marks, but the team still has a lot of exclamation points.

Let’s look at some of the things learned from Carolina’s open practice on the ACC Network.

Mack Brown said that last season, Drake Maye was the face of the team. Now, it will be Hampton.

Coach Brown was effusive in his praise of the star running back, saying he was exactly the type of recruit that UNC is after, and was pleased that he returned to Chapel Hill, despite lucrative overtures to transfer elsewhere.

Mack said that Hampton is the type of player that makes everyone better.

The attention he demands from defenses will give Carolina’s receivers more one-on-one matchups, and should lead to less sacks on the quarterback.

It will be interesting to see how Hampton’s raw statistics stand up to last season’s bonanza (253 rushes, 1,504 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 29 receptions, 222 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, countless defenders’ chests crushed) with more stacked boxes when defenses dare UNC to throw the ball without a quarterback named Howell or Maye.
