Jaden Rashada is officially entering the transfer portal, as he announced via social media on Thursday.
He’ll have several suitors as a former top-50 recruit in the 2023 class, but Georgia is among the schools expected to make a very strong run at him, according to multiple reports.
Rashada has been hindered by injury early on in his career, but did impress as a true freshman last season. He saw action in three games and threw for 485 yards with 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
If he is to head to Georgia, he will have the opportunity to sit behind Carson Beck, who is largely deemed to be one of the best quarterbacks and overall prospects in the nation, for a year before potentially getting a crack at the starting job for the perhaps most prestigious college football program in the nation.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has made it clear on multiple occasions that he wants to have four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster with indications the Bulldogs could seek that fourth addition via the transfer portal.
It will be interesting to watch where the 6-foot-4, 185-pounder ultimately lands in the coming days and if that destination is indeed in Athens.
In the wake of Rashada’s entrance to the portal, the Georgia Bulldogs have been tabbed as one of the teams that are a potential landing spot for the highly talented quarterback. Should that be the case, Rashada would bolster an already talented quarterback room in Athens.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has stated multiple times that he and his staff have a great desire to have four scholarship quarterbacks on their roster and have heavily implied that they have plans to pursue a fourth signal-caller via the transfer portal.
The Georgia Bulldogs have the opportunity to win their third national championship in four years when the 2024 college football season kicks off this fall. Before the Bulldogs can embark on another national championship run, they have to wrap up spring practice, and play their 2024 Spring Game, better known as G-Day, on Saturday, April 13. Kickoff for G-Day is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Sanford Stadium in Athens. Georgia has become arguably the premier program in college football under head coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs won the national championship in 2021 and 2022, but came up short against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game last year after going undefeated during the regular season. The loss kept Georgia out of the College Football Playoff.
