Cardinals Trade Rumors to Shut Down All-Pro CB
NFL insiders have confirmed that Patrick Surtain II will not be traded by the Denver Broncos to the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona—Those were short-lived.
The Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos are expected to swap picks at the 2024 NFL Draft, which starts on Thursday, April 25. Tony Pauline revealed earlier this week that Patrick Surtain II, an All-Pro wide receiver, would be involved in a possible transaction that would move off a top-five pick.
“Once again, there’s talk that the Broncos will dangle cornerback Patrick Surtain II as part of a trade package to trade up for a quarterback,” stated Pauline.

Ironically, the Los Angeles Chargers (fifth selection) and Arizona Cardinals (fourth pick), the two teams at the top of the draft that are most likely to be open to trading down, need a cornerback. Surtain and the 12th pick in this year’s draft, along with at least one future first-round pick, are all part of any package to move up.”
Since Russell Wilson was fired, the Broncos have been looking to trade for a quarterback, and Surtain II has been mentioned somewhat frequently in those packages. However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport denied the story when he appeared on Fox.

“I fail to see that. It’s not the kind of guy you trade, but rather the kind you build around. I understand that getting a quarterback is crucial, but that’s a fundamental component. A Pro Bowler, that is. That corner is for shutdown. That would surprise me. Courtland Sutton is one of the other players who could be transferred, according to Rapoport.
