ESPN REPORT: Another strong player commit to Kentucky Wildcats….
Transfer of Drexel According to George Langberg of GSL Sports Group, Amari Williams’ agent, he has committed to Kentucky, ESPN reported on Sunday.
Williams went for Mississippi State over the Wildcats after St. John’s was ruled out earlier in the weekend. This past weekend, he traveled to Lexington, where Mark Pope landed his first significant transfer commitment. Williams has been named to the CAA first team the last two seasons and is a three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year winner. In the 2022–2023 season, he averaged 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks. In the previous campaign, he scored 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks.
This past season, Williams recorded eight double-doubles, including 12 points and 15 rebounds versus West Virginia. He also attempted eight and twenty points.

Williams is the sole senior on Kentucky’s roster; the only other players committed to play for the Wildcats at this stage of the cycle are Travis Perry, an incoming freshman, and Collin Chandler. Adou Thiero, Jordan Burks, Joey Hart, Zvonimir Ivisic, Aaron Bradshaw, D.J. Wagner, and Jordan Burks are among the five members of Kentucky’s 2024 class that have reopened their recruitment.

Earlier this month, Pope was named the new head coach at Kentucky, taking over for John Calipari, who departed for Arkansas. Pope was captain of Kentucky’s 1996 national championship team under Rick Pitino. Pitino coached the team for five years at BYU.
