Breaking news: Kentucky officially land an elite talented guard today….
An update on the hiring of Aidan Mahaney
Will there be a chance for the Cats to get the gifted guard?
As the program enters the Mark Pope era, the Kentucky Wildcats hope to overhaul their whole roster.
As of right now, Travis Perry, Collin Chandler, and Amari Williams are the only three players committed for the 2024–25 campaign. One of the best players may be visiting Kentucky; the staff has been in contact with the players whose names have shown on the transfer portal.
Aidan Mahaney, the Saint Mary’s guard, is starting to curtail his trips, and while the UK “might” get one, it’s not guaranteed, according to Aaron Torres.
Speaking with Ryan Silver, his old AAU coach, Torres reports that the gifted guard has visited Creighton and is scheduled to visit both Virginia and UConn. It will come down to Florida, USC, or Kentucky for the last visit.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Mahaney averaged 13.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game as a true sophomore this past season on 38.6% shooting (35.5% on threes). His next school will be eligible to him for two years.
Kentucky’s ability to secure the last visit will be crucial in deciding the winner. But it’s difficult to consider the Wildcats as a credible contender in the absence of a visit.
Travis Perry says he will remain in Kentucky.
Mark Pope will be visiting Jayden Quaintance on Tuesday; trips to Memphis and Arkansas are planned.
