Following accusations of domestic abuse, Cameron Sutton, a former standout for the Detriot Lions, turned himself in.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that the former NFL cornerback handed himself in to Florida police over a month after an arrest warrant was issued for him on accusations of domestic abuse by strangulation.

Sutton surrendered himself to the Orient Road Jail in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, March 31, at 8:24 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the HCSO, Sutton’s lawyer informed the sheriff’s office last week that he intended to bring himself in.

A West Virginia man has been searching for answers for more than 20 years after his 10-year-old daughter disappeared in August 2000 during a contentious custody battle.

After state police and the FBI revealed on Tuesday that Susan Carter’s and their daughter Natasha “Alex” Carter’s bodies were discovered in Larry Webb’s home on Monday — the day Webb passed away while being held – Rick Lafferty can now at last bring her home.

At the news conference, Lafferty remarked, “It’s kind of a sad day, but also a happy day because I can finally bring my baby home.” “I almost lost hope so many times after 24 years and so many times this case went cold.”

Webb, eighty years old,

had a medical episode on Monday morning at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex, West Virginia State Police confirmed on Tuesday. He was being held without bond at the facility after being arrested earlier this month in connection with the girl’s death.

The prosecutor stated that Webb admitted to the killings on his deathbed. He acknowledged that he had shot Susan Carter inside the house during a fight about money he thought she had spent.

He later admitted to investigators that he shot Carter because he “knew he had ruined his life forever” and that in order to escape being discovered, he also had to shoot and murder Alex, Carter’s 10-year-old daughter.

Webb described how he wrapped the mother’s and daughter’s bodies after killing them. Their remains were left on his basement floor for two days while he excavated shallow graves in his backyard, where they were buried for more than 25 years.

The mother and daughter’s bones were found in shallow graves in the backyard of Webb’s Beckley, West Virginia, home six hours after he was declared dead.

Deputy Chief Dave Allard of the Beckley Police Department stated, “We found Susan and Alex Carter later that same afternoon.” “A somewhat lyrical conclusion that even I could not write.”

The FBI claims that Carter and Lafferty were involved in a “contentious” custody dispute for their child, Alex, back in August 2000. Prior to their death, there were rumors that the mother and daughter had departed and were staying at Webb’s house.

Years passed with little progress in the matter until 2021, when there was a new push for resolution. When search warrants were executed at Webb’s residence in 2023 by the West Virginia State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and US Marshalls, they discovered DNA and other evidence that led them to charge Webb with The killing of Alex.
