Arkansas razorbacks news

My condolences: Arkansas Razorbacks HC (Sam Pittman) and one year old baby die in car crash…..

It’s late August and Arkansas football isn’t just upon us, it’s consumed Razorback fans who might’ve been utterly disillusioned about the state of affairs in Fayetteville not long ago.

And maybe it’s still foolhardy to summon optimism about a program that has 10 losing seasons in the last 20 years and only seven bowl victories in that same span.

With Petrino’s arrival as offensive coordinator, returning players got a needed boost after a laggard 2023 campaign. Then the transfer portal opened up and provided a host of skilled players and linemen on both sides of the ball.

Now, will all of that even matter? Arkansas went 4-8 last fall, and it can be argued that they should’ve won seven or eight, but they might have also been fortunate to seize only a couple of those wins, too.

The 2023 Razorbacks were, by all measure, simply a bad football team.

They will be better, but there are plenty of unanswered questions left as the opener in Little Rock against Pine Bluff on August 29 looms.

The Boise State transfer is big-bodied and big-armed, but after two years of sharing duties for the Broncos, it’s an unknown as to how his talent will apply in the SEC, now and presumably for another year at least.

Green’s ability to create with his legs is appreciable, but it’s his arm talent that wows.

At 6-foot-6, he’s up there with Matt Jones and the late Ryan Mallett for pure height, but he’s a hybrid of those skill sets.
