Pittsburgh Steelers

Despite his leaving Pittsburgh Steelers today disappointment will be on Mike Tomlin….

On Friday night, the second night of the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers persisted in giving the offensive line first priority.

Zach Frazier, a center from West Virginia, was chosen by the Steelers in the second round. After Mason Cole was cut by the Steelers earlier in the summer, he most likely took his place in the starting lineup right away.

After making ten starts at guard as a freshman, Frazier spent his final three seasons at West Virginia starting 37 games as a center. After leading the Mountaineers to a Power 5-best 2,976 running yards and not allowing sack last season, he was selected to the third team of the All-America team.

After the Steelers selected Troy Fautanu, an offensive tackle from Washington, in the first round on Thursday night, Frazier was chosen.

“I simply understand the significance of offensive line to the Pittsburgh Steelers and their long history of fielding outstanding o-linemen and offensive lines,” Frazier remarked. It’s unique. In the opening round, they had already moved to the offensive line. It’s unique. Excitement fills me. They are acquiring a diligent worker who will do everything in his power to help the team win football games. I am ecstatic beyond measure.

With their two third-round selections, the Steelers selected North Carolina State linebacker Payton Wilson and Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson.

Roman Wilson was the big-play receiver for the Michigan Wolverines in their 2017 national championship campaign. With a run-heavy approach, he caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In college, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound player played slot receiver. Wilson will aim to fill the vacancy at wide receiver alongside free-agent signees Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins, as the Steelers are searching for assistance after dealing Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.

Wilson recorded 107 catches for 1,707 yards and 20 touchdowns during his time in college.

Wilson stated, “They brought me in because they want me to play and win games for this team.” “I’m going to come in and do exactly that.”

The previous season’s ACC Defensive Player of the Year was Payton Wilson. In addition, he received the Bednarik Award, which is given to the greatest defensive player overall, and the Dick Butkus Award, which is given to the finest linebacker in college football.

In 2023, Wilson recorded a career-high 138 tackles, including 69 solo stops, and six sacks.

Wilson is the brother of Bryse Wilson, a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers who spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wilson remarked, “I attended a couple games in Pittsburgh.” It’s among my all-time favorite cities. quite acquainted with the city. I am also well acquainted with Pittsburgh’s intense passion for its professional sports teams. Extremely eager to arrive there.
