With Vikings draft picks and undrafted free agents scheduled to take part in the team’s rookie minicamp, this should be another exciting week around here.

Before rushing headfirst into playbooks, hopefully each will give himself a minute to take a big breath and consider the possibilities ahead.

May also signals that the 2024 timetable announcement is getting closer. One of my favorite days of the year is that one. Though the opponents Minnesota will face in 2024 have been known to us since the conclusion of the 2023 regular season, there’s still a certain something about seeing the exact dates of the games.

Now let’s start asking questions.

To start with, SKOL BABY! This year’s Vikings draft was fun for me. I’m really enthusiastic about the team’s future because of the selections of Dallas Turner and J.J. McCarthy. I also adore Khyree Jackson, the fourth-round selection. He is going to be a challenge to several of the league’s receivers. After all the new acquisitions through free agency, the draft, and a few of these intriguing UDFAs (undrafted free agents), it will be interesting to see how we put all these pieces together.

We’ll begin in the Upstate of South Carolina, where friends and old coworkers who remain some of my favorite people are.

In my opinion, Austin is not the only place where people are excited about McCarthy, Turner, and Jackson’s choices.

In collaboration with analyst Pete Bercich, Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell has previously produced Film Session episodes on McCarthy (which were posted last week and are embedded below this comment) and Turner (see that one shortly).

During an off-the-record meeting last week, O’Connell and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah discussed each member of the Vikings draft class. The pair invited reporters to Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance’s Thomson Reuters Vikings Draft Room.

center and displayed highlights that emphasize various facets of each pick’s performance.

I can honestly state that fans should be thrilled about how the drafted players can benefit the Vikings, even though the topics discussed were off the record. To moderate that statement, I’ll also advise people to recognize that every novice has a little different experience during the development process.

I adore the length, play style, and strong tackling that Jackson’s college tape showcases. Mekhi Blackmon, a second-year professional, uploaded a video of himself and stated that he was pleased with what he saw in Jackson’s highlights.

In Rounds 4–7, Jackson was the first of five players added. Next, Minnesota agreed to agreements with 17 undrafted players.
