Current Kentucky Wildcats Forward Aaron Bradshaw Announces Transfer Destination Today

Jasper Johnson is a name that most around the high school sports world of Kentucky know.

The Lexington native, and son of former Kentucky Wildcats star Dennis Johnson, is a 5-star guard who played at Woodford County before transferring to Link Academy last year.

Johnson was offered by John Calipari and the previous staff, but after Calipari’s departure, Mark Pope is picking up where the previous staff left off.

“(Pope) said he might not recruit as many freshmen as Cal did, but he wants me to be one of those freshmen that come in and (makes an) impact from day one,” Johnson said in an interview with KSR.

Pope and a couple of assistants have already been in contact with the Johnson family — “It means a lot.

Me being from there, I’m still gonna have interest in (Kentucky) for sure,” Johnson added.

“I’ve been watching (Pope’s) playstyle at BYU and seeing what his offense has brought and I know he’s gonna bring in some recruits for sure and I feel like they’re gonna have a good season.”

Now expect John Calipari to put up a fight to win over Johnson.

Johnson says he hopes to commit by the end of the summer before the season starts. Johnson’s Link Academy coach, Bill Armstrong, was recently rumored to be a potential addition to Baylor’s coaching staff, replacing Alvin Brooks III, who is now at Kentucky.

North Carolina remains the biggest threat to Kentucky or even Arkansas.

He took an official visit to Chapel Hill back in February and also took a visit to Auburn this season.
