Announcement: Kentucky Wildcats has suspended NBA Guard Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard today…..

Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard will almost certainly be selected in the top 10 of the draft.
Scouts are impressed with Sheppard and Dillingham.

For the 2023–24 season, the Kentucky Wildcats had the strongest recruiting class. Regretfully, as had occurred in a number of prior years, head coach John Calipari was unable to develop those elite prospects into a competitive squad.

Still, a couple of those guys are expected to sign with the NBA, and two players who weren’t even ranked among the team’s top three recruits—Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard—may be selected in the first ten.

The top ten rankings were made public by Shams Charania of The Athletic and come from teams with access to NBA Draft Combine data. That means that teams obviously see these two Cats as top-10 picks, making it far more significant than any mock draft.

Both Dillingham and Sheppard demonstrated their high ceilings during their one and only season with the Cats. Dillingham shot 47.5% from the floor and finished each game with an average of 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.9 rebounds.

For Sheppard, scouts should be in awe of his efficiency. Out of field shots, he made 53.6% and long shots, 55.5%. That’s very amazing for a guard. At 12.5 points per game, he had the third-highest team average. Additionally, he was the only Kentucky player to average more than four rebounds and assists each game.

We don’t yet know who might take the two Cats. One expects them to be lottery winners. Tyrese Maxey, the second-leading scorer for the Philadelphia 76ers, and Dillingham may be comparable. Perhaps Sheppard’s ceiling is that

of Devin Booker, so it will be intriguing to watch how he develops in the NBA.

The two were grouped with the incredibly gifted Dalton Knecht, who played for Tennessee the previous season and averaged 21.7 points per contest. Nevertheless, get ready for those days as the 2024 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 26–27, and you might hear the names of these former Cats being called to their next stop.
