SAD NEWS: J. D. Martinez Ends Relationship with New York Mets Today after finding out he was….

Included in a flurry of roster moves that became official Wednesday was the Mets optioning Jose Butto to Triple-A Syracuse.

Butto had generally pitched well — but wildly of late — in seven starts since being summoned early last month and held a 3.08 ERA.

But the 26-year-old righty lasted just five innings apiece in his past two outings largely because he walked seven in the span, and he became the victim of a pitching crunch.

Joey Lucchesi officially was recalled and will start Wednesday’s game against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

The previous plan had been for swingman Adrian Houser to get the ball, but Houser warmed up in the late innings of Tuesday’s loss because the Mets’ bullpen was depleted, which took him out of contention for Wednesday.

The Mets added some insurance for Lucchesi, who pitched to a 2.58 ERA with Syracuse, by calling up Grant Hartwig, who could provide length if the lefty does not last long.

As previously reported, the Mets also designated infielder Joey Wendle and reliever Yohan Ramirez for assignment while calling up Mark Vientos.
