Despite he’s leaving Brisbane Broncos today ‘Disappointment will be on Kevin Walters

It’s been a tumultuous season for the Brisbane Broncos with last year’s grand finalists having dealt with all sorts of adversity, especially on the injury front.

One of the hot talking points heading into the 2024 season was how the Broncos would bounce back from a devastating loss to Penrith in last year’s decider.

So far, you’d have to say they’ve done a good job putting the ghosts of the 2023 grand final behind them.

Entering the fifth instalment of the NRL’s Magic Round in Brisbane, the Broncos are sitting in sixth position with six wins and four losses.

Nothing spectacular, but considering the injury carnage they’ve faced in 2024, they are pretty well placed.

There was also the disappointing chapter out of Las Vegas involving Roosters prop Spencer Leniu and Broncos playmaker Ezra Mam.

Halfback Adam Reynolds has missed four games thus far and won’t return until the end of the regular season while the likes of prop Payne Haas, fullback Reece Walsh and emerging forward Brendan Piakura have spent time on the sidelines.

Winger Jesse Arthars, hooker Billy Walters and utility Tristan Sailor are others who will also be out of action over the coming weeks.

In a huge blow, Walsh is set to miss more time after being ruled out of this weekend’s clash with a knee injury.

As they do every Magic Round, the Broncos will play an ‘away game’ against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night.
