New York Giants: Brian Burns Makes Announcement Ahead of 2024 Season
New York Giants outside linebacker Brian Burns was acquired in a trade this offseason from the Carolina Panthers. He signed a five-year contract extension with the Giants after he was traded from the Panthers. New York will look to be very good defensively this season.
Brian Burns is 26 years old. A season ago with the Carolina Panthers, he had 50 total tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two pass deflections. Carolina had a chance to trade him to another team before the NFL trade deadline last season, but they decided to trade him this offseason instead and it received a lot of criticism from NFL fans.
On Saturday, Burns was at the Dexter Lawrence II Charity Softball Game in Pamona, New York. Brian Burns said about the defense this upcoming season by saying
“Having somebody opposite of me, they’re pretty much going to have to pick their poison on who they’re going to key or slide to. With Dex demanding so much attention and Kayvon also demanding attention, it’s going to free us up a lot.”
Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence will be the core of the Giants’ defense this season. Lawrence is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL. Last season, he had 53 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two pass deflections.
