SAD NEWS: CB Montre Miller of West Virginia football is Gone….

STARKVILLE With the arrival of West Virginia cornerback transfer Montre Miller via the transfer portal, Jeff Lebby and Mississippi State football continued to grow their roster. Miller made his commitment to the Bulldogs known on social media on Friday afternoon.

Miller, a five-foot-11 senior, was limited to one game for the Mountaineers last season and had three tackles against Penn State before sustaining an injury that ended his season.

Over his six seasons in collegiate football, Miller, who started his career at Kent State, has amassed 118 total tackles, two forced fumbles, and six interceptions.

Miller had an overall defensive rating of 78.6, an overall tackling grade of 46.4, and an overall coverage grade of 81.1 in his final complete season with the Golden Flashes prior to his transfer to West Virginia, according to Pro Football Focus.

South Carolina native Miller joins Anthony Johnson, a defensive lineman from Youngstown State who played spring ball at Illinois before reentering the portal, as the second defense transfer added by the Bulldogs this week. Along with former Memphis player DeAgo Brumfield, Mille is the second defensive back to sign with the Bulldogs during the spring transfer portal window.

In the spring gateway window, the Bulldogs also signed Trent Hudson, a wide receiver from New Mexico State, and Davon Booth, a running back from Utah State.

On August 31, Mississippi State, in Lebby’s first season as head coach, takes on Eastern Kentucky at Davis Wade Stadium to start the 2024–25 campaign.

Zach Frazier’s name was called in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, adding his name to the list of almost 200 former West Virginia football players. Another NFL Draft season has come to an end.

While some Mountaineers were able to sign undrafted free agent contracts, Frazier was the only one to be selected in the spring draft. From 2021 to 2024, just three former WVU players have been chosen in the NFL Draft; multiple selections from Morgantown were last achieved in 2020. We examine which WVU players could be able to add their names to the program’s 2025 draftee roster in this early look.
