Shocking news: NHL after quarrelling with the head coach star player makes shocking announcement today….

Vancouver Canucks announced yesterday that they have mutually parted ways with assistant coach Mike Yeo.
According to Satiar Shah of Sportsnet 650, the Canucks did offer Yeo a contract extension, but the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.
Yeo had been with the Canucks for the last two seasons after being brought in by former Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau. Rick Tocchet was brought in on January 22nd, 2023, and coached a full season with Yeo as his assistant this year.
Tocchet was the Jack Adams Award winner this year which is given to the best coach during the regular season. But with Yeo’s contract expiring, the former Wild head coach and the Canucks decided to part ways.
Yeo was in the Wild’s organization from 2010 to 2016. He was the Houston Aeros’ head coach during the 2010-11 season and eventually took over as the Wild’s head coach from 2011-2016.
He then coached the St. Louis Blues before joining former Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher in Philadelphia for three years as an assistant before becoming the interim head coach in December of 2021.
In his head coaching career, Yeo has gone 246-181-45. He went 173-132-44 in 349 career games with the Wild across five seasons. He was 11-17-0 in the playoffs with the Wild and 17-22-0 all-time in the playoffs.
Dean Evason is out and John Hynes is in. So who is Hynes and why was general manager Bill Guerin so quick to hire someone from outside the organization considering Minnesota will be back on the ice Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues?
Hynes coached the New Jersey Devils from 2015 through the early part of the 2019-20 season before he was fired that December after a lousy start to the season.
Just over a month later he was named the head coach of the Nashville Predators after Peter Laviolette was fired midway through the 2019-20 season.
